PHASE 2: PROGRAMME
The speculation phase looks at the narrative and part of my design through concept models. My narrative focuses on vintage and charity shops and the memories and journeys related to them. After researching I took an approach to understand the older communities within Margate and how the concept could be focused on them. Along with what program should take place for these people to collaborate with the facilities in Margate. This phase is a step forward in the concept models to look at abstract forms and shape and create a piece that could merge with the given site and be of use to many individuals. After merging shapes using card and paper I focused on materiality and the way different methods of fusion can change the use of materials and shapes giving it a spatial quality to be placed and integrated with Sunshine café. This also helped engage with the movements and activities of various groups using diagrammatic notation to form spatial and environmental elements.

NARRATIVE
The lost memories that were stored in vintage and charity shops in the form of photographs, show the untold stories and journeys of individuals in Margate. Many of these memories are from the older generation that has no family or reside in care homes. I want to create a space that can acknowledge and help the inevitable loneliness that the older communities face along with a major issue that relates to lost memories. Space should be for activities where families related to older communities come to share memories and participate in activities to recall moments using personal photos, items, and films. I also wanted to include therapy sessions that everyone can participate in such as yoga, art, reading, music, behavioral therapy, and cognitive stimulation therapy. All these activities are extracted from Margate and their local shops, promoting businesses, and helping Margate progress. Home remedies that help dementia are usually associated with fruits and vegetable therefore I want an open garden space where the peaceful interaction of growing nature can take place. “Dementia is correlated with increased anxiety and depression” but it is scientifically proven that interaction between innocent children and the elderly can help patients with dementia calm down and take on a different role where they escape their loneliness, therefore the idea of children’s participation is also included.
PRECEDENT

- National Museums Liverpool works Alzheimer Society and chair of the Dementia 4 Schools
- Encouraging young and old to share and create memories together and raise awareness
- During this young visitors can borrow a backpack filled with activities they can do with their grandparents , helping them to recall and share childhood memories.
- The memories will then be recorded in a special album for future.

- A community centre is a public space that provides basic needs and services for the local community.
- Supports the local elderly citizens by providing them various kinds of programs and facilities along with encouraging the public to utilise the space..

- KADK aims to examines how we can create active urban and outdoor spaces for the city’s senior citizens.
- Invited residents to take part in a series of workshops to generate ideas and proposals for senior-friendly outdoor spaces.
- The ideas from the workshop will result in three outdoor spaces specifcally aimed at elderly residents.

MY CONCEPT PITCH
Spatial Environmental/Notation
Spatial and environmental notation are diagrammatic projections of human behaviours/ experience and interactions, such as movements, views, and sounds. For my diagram I wanted to show the movements of the elderly and children and how they differ. These movements are according to activities and furniture placed around the site to show interaction with both integral parts of my design. These diagrams show also show sound projects and communicate in various ways and areas sounds are projecting along with ways of conversing for both groups. The 3 notations are in 1.10 and differ as they are during different times of days and showing a different amount of people.

Notation 1

Notation 1 is from a diagram showing a normal day but only the movement of a single elderly and a single child and their movement and sounds projection throughout a time frame.
Notation 2

Notation 2 is from a diagram showing a busy day throughout a time frame but with lots more people (; elderly and children) it also defines the existence of my programs and furniture for the activities to be placed on.
Notation 3

Notation 3 is from a diagram showing a period of time on a quieter day with various elderly and children.
